A Future Iconic Park fit for Wine Country
Montage development Park
Montage Park is located on the north side of Healdsburg, adjacent to the Montage Resort and Healdsburg Avenue. The site is comprised of rolling Oak grasslands with scattered oak trees, seasonal wetlands, a flood detention basin for Foss Creek and a stormwater basin for a nearby future housing site.
The Park is 36 acres in size and has seen various strategies developed ranging from intensive athletic facilities, to a passive walking and hiking program. Fletcher Studio is currently working with the City, NCRM, BKF, and the community to explore programming strategies that complement the city’s current needs and expands the potential for the inclusion of public arts, heritage agriculture, and different blends of passive and active recreation.

Major Design Moves
Before discussing the central park area design there are a few larger design moves highlighted below:
The proposed design restores the historic alignment of Foss Creek, by re-introducing a second creek channel connecting to the stormwater detention.
The existing serpentine knoll is an important site feature acting as an elevated promontory extending into the park. It is maintained and enhanced in the design concepts.
The existing and proposed wetlands are intended to treat stormwater runoff from future affordable housing developments; by re-utilizing the historic alignment of Foss Creek the need for these wetlands needs to re-evaluated as they may no longer be needed.
A larger trail network is shown and would include: 1) Primary trails; 2) Secondary trails; 3) Tertiary trails.
